A Perfect Day in the Bahamas

Through our personal experiences across the Bahamas and detailed feedback from our clients, we know how to create the ideal itinerary in Nassau, Bahamas when the time is right to travel there. Add in the SELECT benefits you receive for booking through our agency, and this could be your perfect day in the island nation’s capital city.
7:16 AM

Wake up surrounded by the modern design of SLS Baha Mar, a stylish oceanfront luxury resort, and enjoy the amazing view of Cable Beach from your balcony. Thanks to booking your stay through our agency, you enjoy a complimentary breakfast for two at Cleo, recently named one of OpenTable's "50 Hottest Restaurants in the U.S." The ricotta pancakes with nutella ganache, mixed berries and whipped creme fraiche is divine.

8:31 AM

Start your day with a historical tour of the city at the Queen's Staircase. Carved out of solid limestone in 1793, the 66 steps take you from Nassau Town up to Fort Fincastle. Stunning views, intriguing stories and amazing photo ops await at the Fort, which strategically overlooks the city from atop Bennett's Hill, the highest point of the entire island.

11:02 AM

Stroll back down to the heart of Nassau Town to visit the Straw Market on Bay Street. A cornucopia of colors, the Straw Market is the ideal place to pick up authentic Bahamian handicrafts, such as straw hats, carved wood animals and sculptures. Don't be shy to negotiate prices - it's an expected (and oftentimes pleasurable part) of the transaction here.

12:38 PM

After working up an appetite procuring a wide range of souvenirs, next head to Arawak Cay. This diverse collection of beachside restaurants and kitschy bars attracts tourists and locals alike for fresh-caught fish, grilled shrimp and conch fritters. Here, you can crack open a Kalik, "The Beer of The Bahamas," or sip on some Sky Juice, a popular combination of gin, coconut water, sweet milk, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg.

2:13 PM

The water calls your name as the afternoon sun begins its daily descent. To fully immerse yourself in the surroundings, head to Stuart Cove for scuba diving. Beginners and certified divers come here to swim with reef sharks as they get fed by qualified professionals. The reef system here is exquisite and easily viewed via snorkeling or mini-sub, which you can pilot yourself!

4:47 PM

For a late afternoon pick-me-up, head to the famous Graycliff Restaurant. This historic colonial mansion is full of surprises; you'll find everything from a chocolatier, where you can learn the art of chocolate on a tour, as well as a 200,000-plus bottle wine cellar and cognateque, cigar company and pizzeria. There's even a Bahamian heritage museum right on site.

7:09 PM

If you were able to escape Graycliff without a belly full of chocolate, then head to Paradise Island for an elegant dinner at Cafe Martinique. The trendy restaurant features a seasonal, plant-forward menu that promotes sustainability and incorporates local Bahamian ingredients. Here you will be presented with tough choices: will it be the braised Wagyu short ribs with creamy polenta, or will you order grilled cobia, one of the world's most delicious fish?

9:16 PM

More tempting choices await you back at SLS Baha Mar, where you can spend your 100 USD Food & Beverage credit - a SELECT benefit you receive for booking through our agency - at one of the resort complex 28 restaurants, bars and lounges. We recommend martinis that are shaken, not stirred, at Bond, a nightclub that has all the swagger and swank as its namesake British spy.
